Keeping safe in Melbourne during COVID - 4 August 2021

As the Covid-19 situation worsens in Australia, we check in with our Branch Manager in Melbourne, Ben Sadeghi to see just how the ongoing lockdowns have impacted on operations.
Melbourne have faced five lockdowns to date, each taking them into Victorian government Stage 4 restrictions. Rail being an essential service in Australia has meant the team has continued to work throughout, while implementing safety procedures including social distancing, regular hand sanitising and wearing masks along with following the new protocols in place on customer sites.
Ben has found that the most challenging aspect has been the impact on workflow.  Due to only urgent work being completed during lockdown, once restrictions are lifted the backlog of work floods in.  
All in all, we are proud of our teams in Australia for rising to the challenge time and time again and living our Commitment value by demonstrating that we value the wellbeing of our people and therefore Health and Safety are paramount.
